You need to make new memories. You will find disappointment if you attempt to recreate old memories. What has power and impact is not your ability to plan events, but your willingness to love.

Well, Alan — you better tell me if you do not want a dialogue on these. On memories — in some way — when ever the family gets together for a holiday — we are recreating memories for some, and at least in my case, those memories are very nourishing. And as I was walking to the park on Thanksgiving I saw two guys with their dogs — so relaxed — and I could not help but think –“they were not cooking.” In most families it is the women who PLAN — all be it with love — that make these good memories that in some sense we recreate each year. But I get what you are trying to say — I think — just do not get locked into it so it is no longer a loving chore.
A lot of folks I talked to this year went to restaurants — and told me — it was okay but….
